A very nice group of photographs. Very beautiful. Represented a wide range of styles that truly capture the beauty of nature, even with some not-so-beautiful subjects. The winner brought some vision to the photograph and didn't just rely on happenstance for the composition.

William Snyder is a photo editor and former staff photographer with
The Dallas Morning News. In 1983 William joined the staff of "The News" as a photographer and won numerous awards including three Pulitzer prizes in his 15 years of photographing various news, sports and feature stories. He has won three Pulitzer Prizes.
Some of the stories William has covered as a photojournalist include: (3) Summer Olympics, (4) Winter Olympics, (2) Super Bowls, the first democratic elections in Haiti and Romania, the AIDS epidemic in Uganda, Thailand and the US, Romanian orphans and the coup attempt in the former Soviet Union.
We are very appreciative of Mr. Snyder's willingness to take time away from his many duties at The Dallas Morning News to judge the Field and Forest Nature Photo Contest.
