Comments:
We could feel the heat as the lava poured into the ocean. The full moon setting in the backgound added a final touch.
My family moved to the Big Island in the early 80's. For many years we have traveled out to see the lava via boat and now are about to start a commercial boating operation to see spectacles like this and take a few extreme divers underwater to view pillowing lava.
I purchased my first still camera, a Nikon 990 in 2000, while living in the mountains in nothern Washington State. After shooting close to 10,000 photos it took a final splash of water last year (destroying the camera) to force me to finally make the jump into a new camera.
As much as I love my old Coolpix the shots I'm now taking with the Sony 828 are so much better I cant believe it. I now have a library of lava shots like this one, endless Hawaiian sunsets, and many other shots I'm now ready to share.
