My neighbor called me over to his house to photograph this orb spider (White-Backed Garden Spider) waiting for prey on its beautiful and distinctive web. Spiders are fascinating insects and perform amazing good for our gardens and yards. Orb spiders are a photographer's favorite due to their larger than normal size, vivid body, patterns and colors and, of course, the wonderful webs they create.
